The United Service Institution of India was founded in 1870 by a soldier scholar, Colonel (later Major General) Sir Charles MacGregor. The story of its growth is the story of the growth of the Indian Armed Forces. It was founded for ‘furtherance of interest and knowledge in the art, science and literature of the Defence Services.’
Rapid advancements in technologies like Advanced Data Sciences, Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML), 5G Communications, Quantum Computing etc are impacting all fields/ walks of human life in uncountable ways. Absorption & integration of AI in enterprise applications therefore is a natural fallout to enhance their operational efficiencies through improved & informed decision making. Deployment of responsible AI systems in an enterprise is challenged by heterogenous platforms and legacy systems, which store, process and handle data differently. Seamless integration of these systems and deployment of AI based systems for improving their workflows, decision-making and transforming their strategies and capabilities, is a tall order. The challenge gets accentuated by the requirement of fielding ethical, accountable and explainable AI systems in a responsible manner, to function under the overall ambit of the policy and norms on the subject. The research aims at exploring the various ways/ fields in which AI can be used in enterprise applications and their advantages & risks involved. Various technical & ethical considerations that must be addressed while exploiting AI based systems in decision making and what should be the roadmap for integration and deployment of AI for a large enterprise.
