The tri service Staff Ride concept is based on the principle that the study of historical military campaigns and battles emphasize the enduring nature of warfare as well as its changing character. Confronting the realitics of the former and managing the later, are eternal challenge to the soilder and commander in particular. Especially as the modern officer is not now often engaged of operations of significant scale, the value of Staff Rides in keeping the conceptual component of fighting power in good order is being freshly appreciated in professional armed forces.Maj Gen (Retd) Dr Andrew Sharpe, Director CHACR, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Camberley on 29 May 2023 gave a presentation on ‘Staff Ride: A tool for instruction of military professionals in principles of war’ 

Following the talk, Lt Gen D P Pandey, AVSM, VSM Commandant of the Army War College, has approved a joint Indo-UK Staff Ride which is in the pipeline.
