The United Service Institution of India was founded in 1870 by a soldier scholar, Colonel (later Major General) Sir Charles MacGregor. The story of its growth is the story of the growth of the Indian Armed Forces. It was founded for ‘furtherance of interest and knowledge in the art, science and literature of the Defence Services.’

The Centre for Strategic Studies and Simulation (CS3), USI, organised a scholar’s presentation on 13 March 2026 on the topic, “Air Power in Joint Warfare: An Indian Perspective” by Air Marshal Diptendu Choudhary, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM, PhD (Retd).
The presentation was followed by an interactive discussion with valuable inputs from participants, followed by expert remarks by Air Marshal Rajesh Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VM (Retd), and concluding remarks were given by Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, SYSM, PVSM, AVSM, NM, PhD (Retd), DG, USI.
