The United Service Institution of India was founded in 1870 by a soldier scholar, Colonel (later Major General) Sir Charles MacGregor. The story of its growth is the story of the growth of the Indian Armed Forces. It was founded for ‘furtherance of interest and knowledge in the art, science and literature of the Defence Services.’

The Final Scholar Presentation by Air Mshl (Dr) Rajeev Sachdeva, AVSM (Retd) on the topic “Wings of Support: Nine Decades of Action by Transport Fleet of IAF” under Flying Officer Amandeep Singh Gill Chair of Excellence, was held at SR-3, USI on 25 Aug 2025 from 1030h – 1215h. Maj Gen RS Yadav, VSM (Retd), Director, CS3 gave the Welcome Remarks followed by the detailed presentation by the Scholar. The Expert’s Remarks were given by Air Mshl Diptendu Choudhury, PVSM, AVSM VM, VSM (Retd). The event was also attended by Officers of Air/Naval HQs who gave valuable suggestions. The Closing Remarks were given by Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM & Bar (Retd), Director General USI.
