The United Service Institution of India was founded in 1870 by a soldier scholar, Colonel (later Major General) Sir Charles MacGregor. The story of its growth is the story of the growth of the Indian Armed Forces. It was founded for ‘furtherance of interest and knowledge in the art, science and literature of the Defence Services.’

Programme Summary

  1. The seminar on “Strategies for Winning over Neighbouring Countries” was conducted by the Centre for Strategic Studies and Simulation (CS3) at the United Service Institution of India (USI) on 15 Oct 2024 for evolving policy recommendations for the decision makers.
  2. The programme began with welcome remarks by Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd), Director General USI.
  3. The first session of the event was moderated by Maj Gen BK Sharma, AVSM, SM** (Retd), Director General USI. This session entailed presentations by Amb Nalin Surie, IFS (Retd) on China; Amb TCA Raghavan, IFS (Retd) on Pakistan; Amb Jayant Prasad, IFS (Retd) on Nepal; and Amb Ashok K Kantha, IFS (Retd) on Sri Lanka.
  4. This was followed by the second session, which was moderated by Maj Gen RS Yadav, VSM (Retd), Director, CS3, USI.
