The United Service Institution of India was founded in 1870 by a soldier scholar, Colonel (later Major General) Sir Charles MacGregor. The story of its growth is the story of the growth of the Indian Armed Forces. It was founded for ‘furtherance of interest and knowledge in the art, science and literature of the Defence Services.’

REPORT ON CONDUCT OF WORKSHOP ON ‘EVOLVING GLOBAL SCENARIOS

AND LIKELY DEVELOPMENTS IN THE INDO-PACIFIC REGION’

The USI conducted a Workshop on “Evolving Global Scenarios and Likely Developments in the Indo-Pacific Region” at Naval War College, Goa from 18-20 Nov 2024. Various aspects of global geo-strategic developments were discussed with a focus on Western Pacific and Indian Ocean Region, and implications thereof from an Indian perspective. Scholars from Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam presented a perspective on South China Sea. Significant value was added to the discussion by the presence of luminaries viz. Amb Ashok K Kantha, Amb Jayant Prasad, Amb Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Amb Anil Wadhwa and former Chief of Naval Staff. The participation of the Course Members of the Naval Higher Command Course was quite encouraging.
