The United Service Institution of India was founded in 1870 by a soldier scholar, Colonel (later Major General) Sir Charles MacGregor. The story of its growth is the story of the growth of the Indian Armed Forces. It was founded for ‘furtherance of interest and knowledge in the art, science and literature of the Defence Services.’

USI of India in collaboration with the Indian Army, supported by the Indian Institute of Heritage, National Museum is organising a Symposium on Historical Patterns of Indian Strategic Culture under Project Udbhav on 15 March 2024 at the National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi from 0930 to 1300 Hrs. Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Vice President of India is expected to be the Chief Guest.
