The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India, also known as the Foreign Ministry, is responsible for overseeing the nation's international relations. Established in September 1946, before India's independence from British rule in 1947, it was initially part of the British Indian Government. The first Minister of External Affairs was Jawaharlal Nehru, who also served as the Prime Minister of India.
Ministry of External Affairs has initiated and sponsored the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Chair at USI which commenced in the year 1998. The first MEA Chair was allotted to Prof Satish Kumar who researched on the topic ‘India and the Regional Security Environment After Shakti 1998’.
